Hello Darryl,
Welcome back to Symantec Online Technical Support.
I understand from your message that, still symlcsvc.exe is
now using more handles with a resource leak of an additional
12 even after following all the instructions that I have
provided in the previous message.
Please note that, LiveUpdate is software included with Norton AntiVirus. It
checks the web for updates to Norton AntiVirus, virus definitions, and
LiveUpdate itself. Norton AntiVirus will automatically prompt you to run
LiveUpdate if the virus definitions on your computer have become more than a
month old. If you have enabled the Automatic LiveUpdate, then it will attempt to
connect to the LiveUpdate server in every five minutes. Since the program is
performing this task the issue happened.
In order to resolve the issue I suggest that, you please disable the
Automatic LiveUpdate and run the LiveUpdate daily to ensure that, your Virus
definition and Norton program are up to date. Be aware that, Norton AntiVirus
scans for viruses by using files called "virus definitions." Each virus
definition enables the antivirus software to recognize and act against a
particular virus. To protect your computer against new viruses as they appear,
you need to keep your virus definitions and Norton AntiVirus applications
current by running Norton's LiveUpdate.
In order to disable the Automatic LiveUpdate please follow the instructions
mentioned in the document provided below:
Title: 'How to enable (or disable) Automatic LiveUpdate'
Document ID: 2000081608353813
To run the LiveUpdate please make use of the following document:
