Japanese ISP "DION" Selects Pumatech's Mind-it® Software to Provide Update Notifications to Web Subscribers

Pumatech Continues To Strengthen International Presence Through Second Japanese Mind-it Licensing Deal For Sending Web-based Notifications To PCs And Mobile Devices

SAN JOSE, Calif. (01/30/02) - Pumatech, Inc. (NASDAQ: PUMA), a leading provider of enterprise-level software products and services that deliver highly relevant information wherever and whenever it's needed, today announced that DION (http://www.dion.ne.jp/), a Japanese Internet Service Provider (ISP) organization operated by KDDI Corporation of Tokyo, has selected Pumatech's Mind-itŪ software to provide an update notification service ("Okonomi Tsuuchi Service") to DION members.

Several corporations, including CNET, have deployed Mind-it in the U.S. In Japan, KDDI/DION is the second company to integrate Mind-it into its service offering. NEC BIGLOBE became the first Japanese company to do so when it began offering Mind-it based notifications to its "BIGLOBE Binder" subscribers in July 2001. In addition to BIGLOBE and DION, systems are currently being developed by numerous other Japanese ISPs, portals, news sites and member-owned organizations, with Mind-it-based services slated to start in the first half of calendar 2002.
