Pumatech announces Satellite Forms® 5.0 software, featuring support for Pocket PC 2002 handhelds

Software Leverages New Enterprise IntellisyncTM Server Technology To Provide Seamless Integration With Back-end Corporate Data From Custom Handheld Applications

SAN JOSE, Calif. (4/15/02) - Pumatech, Inc. (NASDAQ: PUMA), a leading provider of enterprise-level software products and services that deliver highly relevant information wherever and whenever it's needed, has announced availability of Satellite Forms MobileApp Designer 5.0 software, which complements Pumatech's Enterprise Intellisync , Second Edition software to help organizations transform themselves into "real-time enterprises". Satellite Forms 5.0 enables rapid development of sophisticated handheld applications that integrate seamlessly with desktop database applications or directly with server-based data via Enterprise Intellisync Server technology (included with Satellite Forms). This latest version of Satellite Forms now allows development of custom applications for Pocket PC 2002 handhelds, in addition to Palm OS -based devices.

Satellite Forms' built-in "App Designer" enables users to quickly create powerful handheld applications without any knowledge of programming, simply by "dragging and dropping" Satellite Forms controls. Satellite Forms 5.0 works with the Enterprise Intellisync Server to provide connectivity between these mobile applications and essential corporate data residing in solutions such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and many other ODBC-compliant data sources. Enterprise Intellisync Server supports multiple secure device connections via wireless and direct network cradle connectivity, as well as device cradle sync.

The Satellite Forms MobileApp Designer 5.0 package also includes a centralized Administrator's Console (part of the Enterprise Intellisync Server) for securely configuring, deploying and upgrading mobile software applications, and for managing handheld devices.

"Satellite Forms MobileApp Designer 5.0 plays a vital role in 'enabling the real-time enterprise' by extending mission-critical, back-end information to the point of business, precisely when and where it's needed, while also allowing information generated in the field to be quickly propagated back to the enterprise," said Pumatech CEO, President and Co-founder Brad Rowe. "Now with support for Pocket PC 2002 handhelds, in addition to Palm OS-based devices, this latest release of Satellite Forms allows IT to deploy custom applications for use by virtually anyone in the enterprise who needs them."

The Satellite Forms Mobile App Designer 5.0 package includes Pumatech's recently introduced Enterprise Intellisync, Second Edition software. In addition to providing server-based connectivity for Satellite Forms, Enterprise Intellisync delivers desktop, LAN-based and remote synchronization of e-mail, calendar, contacts and tasks among Palm OSŪ/Windows CE/Pocket PC handhelds and groupware applications like Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes.
