Pumatech announces licensing and distribution agreement with Advent Software, Inc.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (06/17/02) - Pumatech, Inc. (NASDAQ: PUMA), the leading provider of synchronization software and services, today announced that Advent Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADVS), the world's leading provider of Enterprise Investment Management solutions, will license Pumatech's industry-leading Enterprise Intellisync server-to-server connectivity and synchronization technology. The combined solution will enable users of Qube®, Advent's integrated client and portfolio relationship management system, to synchronize calendar, contacts, tasks and e-mail between Qube and Microsoft Outlook (via Microsoft Exchange), Lotus Notes (via Lotus Domino), and PDA/wireless devices.

Under the terms of the agreement announced today, Advent Software will license Pumatech's XML toolkit to embed a version of Enterprise Intellisync Server that provides server-to-server synchronization with Advent's Qube database. This embedded functionality will be a core part of the Qube software distributed by Advent under license with Pumatech. In addition, Advent will purchase a license to distribute a version of the Enterprise Intellisync Server that will enable Qube clients to deploy a wireless device synchronization solution throughout the enterprise, creating "three-way" synchronization capability among Qube, the Enterprise Intellisync Server (Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange), and Palm OS or Pocket PC/Windows CE handhelds. Qube customers can purchase the wireless synchronization solution by upgrading to a full version of Pumatech's Enterprise Intellisync Server that will also support Qube.

"The Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes groupware solutions are relied upon by nearly all of the largest financial enterprises in North America," said Brian Bailard, vice president of Advent. "By teaming up with Pumatech to integrate Enterprise Intellisync Server with Qube, we will enable our customers to extend the power of Qube by connecting the application to essential calendar, task and e-mail information." The client center of Advent Office™, Qube is a powerful database that efficiently tracks multidimensional information on clients, their investments, and the network of people and activities related to those investments. Designed specifically for the financial services industry, Qube is a flexible, enterprise-wide solution that lets users tailor client communications in order to build more personalized relationships and deliver more specialized service.

Pumatech's Enterprise Intellisync Server - a major component of Pumatech's Enterprise Intellisync, Second Edition package - provides a single resource for synchronizing PIM, e-mail and custom database information, both locally and remotely, between desktop PCs, servers and mobile devices, and for managing handheld devices and software from one centralized location.

"Our Enterprise Intellisync Server provides a natural extension to Advent's Qube software," said Brad Rowe, Pumatech's president, CEO and co-founder. "By providing server-to-server synchronization between Qube and leading enterprise groupware, Enterprise Intellisync Server is helping make Qube an even more effective tool for tracking clients and investments - and for enabling investment professionals to build stronger customer relationships and provide better service."
