Casio selects Pumatech's Intellisync® software as synchronization standard for new handheld device

SAN JOSE, Calif. (6/26/01) -- Pumatech, Inc. (NASDAQ: PUMA), the leading provider of software infrastructure for the mobile Internet, today announced that Casio is bundling Pumatech's Intellisync Lite software with its new Cassiopeia BE-300 handheld device. Pumatech's Intellisync Lite software will provide synchronization of calendar, e-mail, contacts, notes and to-do items between the new Windows CE-based device and Microsoft Outlook. Casio developed an optimized version of Intellisync Lite specifically for the new Cassiopeia BE-300 using Pumatech's Intellisync Software Developer Kit (Intellisync SDK), and will introduce the low-cost, color device at PC Expo in New York, June 26-28.

"Casio joins a number of high-profile device vendors such as Research in Motion (RIM) that have adopted our Intellisync engine as their synchronization standard," said Brad Rowe, co-founder, president, and CEO of Pumatech. "Through bundling agreements such as these, we are helping companies like Casio maximize the utility of their devices by granting their customers access to the information they need, when and where they need it."

The Cassiopeia BE-300 will provide out-of-the-box synchronization from Pumatech's Intellisync software. Time-saving benefits of synchronization include the ability to move scheduled or rescheduled events directly into the user's calendar; to identify potential schedule conflicts; and to maintain a single address book. In addition to the Intellisync Lite offering, Casio will also offer the full version of Intellisync through its sales channels for consumers who would like to upgrade the synchronization capabilities of their device. The full version of Intellisync offers support for multiple PC applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes and Organizer, Novell GroupWise, ACT! and more.

"With the debut of our new device, we want to offer customers an effective solution to stay productive at all times," said Yozo Suzuki, managing director of Casio. "Pumatech's synchronization capabilities have proven to help business professionals keep their lives organized regardless of their location, and we wanted to offer that same level of information access and management to our customers."
