TOKYO, Japan (7/31/01) - Pumatech Japan K.K., a global subsidiary of Pumatech, Inc. (NASDAQ: PUMA), announced today that Pumatech's Intellisync Anywhere for Lotus Domino software has been adopted by J-PHONE East, a leading cell phone service provider headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Implementation of Intellisync Anywhere has begun in the Kanto, Ko-Shin-Etsu, Tohoku and Hokkaido regions of Japan, with the main focus on processing Lotus Notes e-mail using J-Sky.
J-PHONE East is scheduled to extend its in-house use of Intellisync Anywhere from the sales division to the company as a whole. Intellisync Anywhere for Lotus Domino software keeps users constantly current with remote and LAN-based synchronization of e-mail, calendars and tasks between Domino and mobile devices. The software also allows for mobile notifications (or alerts) to SMS-capable cell phones and pagers whenever a user receives a new e-mail from pre-specified individuals or has new calendar items added. Easy to set up, deploy, and administer, Intellisync Anywhere provides mobile users with "anytime, anywhere" access to their most critical information.
Fujio Nishimura, network systems group leader in J-PHONE East's Information Systems Department, commented as follows regarding the introduction of Intellisync Anywhere:
"Pumatech possesses outstanding technology, and Pumatech's Intellisync Anywhere is the only application that has displayed the performance we expected in our company's Notes environment. By adopting Intellisync Anywhere, as well as providing convenience for employees, we believe we will be able to improve work efficiency throughout the company. Furthermore, by being the first to utilize Intellisync Anywhere, which we have verified, together with the J-Sky system, we anticipate that our company's sales division will work with Pumatech Japan to recommend Intellisync Anywhere to our corporate customers."
