SAN JOSE, Calif. (8/06/01) - Pumatech, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-level software products and services that deliver highly relevant information - wherever and whenever it's needed, and InfiNet, recognized as the leader in application management and content delivery for the publishing industry, today announced an agreement through which Pumatech's Mind-it software will power InfiNet's publishing services. Under this agreement, InfiNet will integrate the Mind-it technology solution for the newspaper industry, allowing users to receive personalized news and other updates from their favorite online newspapers and publishers via their cell phones, handheld devices or desktop PCs. InfiNet's services include alerts and content delivery for online newspapers.
"In today's fast-paced business world we are experiencing a growing demand for solutions that extend the reach of time-sensitive information to the individual via any platform," said Brad Rowe, president, CEO and co-founder of Pumatech. "Our agreement with InfiNet illustrates the high value that our Mind-it technology offers to the publishing world. By taking advantage of Mind-it's powerful change detection, personalization, and notification capabilities, InfiNet will now be able to deliver highly relevant and personalized content to its users in real-time, enabling them to make more informed and timely decisions based on that information."
PUMATECH'S MIND-IT DELIVERS BREAKING NEWS TO INFINET USERS
InfiNet will first offer Mind-it as an optional feature module of its Real Classifieds service. Current newspapers publishing online classified ads through this service include Newsday and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. With Pumatech's Mind-it technology, InfiNet will provide end users with greater control over both the type of content they receive and how they receive it. Mind-it's unique user-driven personalization capability empowers users to decide which portion of a page to track, how often to receive updates, where to be notified about the change, and when to stop receiving updates. When users sign up for Mind-it on one of the supported InfiNet news or publishing sites, they can select to have their alerts delivered via e-mail or wireless device. In addition, users can determine the specific wireless device on which they would like to receive their alerts by supplying service provider information and a telephone number. To sign up for e-mail alerts on their desktop, users simply supply their e-mail address and indicate if they want the e-mail to arrive in HTML or text format.
"InfiNet runs software from multiple vendors for a large number of high-volume Web sites. We needed one scalable solution that could track information across many platforms and seamlessly provide the user with one system to manage their alerts," said Alan Dawkins, CTO of InfiNet. "After a deep technical evaluation, we found Mind-it to be a great solution."
