Pumatech and Danger, Inc. announce agreement that will keep HiptopTM enabled devices in sync

Pumatech's XML Development Toolkit to facilitate synchronization between Danger's HiptopTM enabled devices and essential PIM software

SAN JOSE, Calif. (08/06/02) - Pumatech, Inc. (NASDAQ: PUMA), the leading provider of synchronization software and services, today announced that Danger, Inc., creator of the HiptopTM Wireless Solution, will offer Pumatech's industry-leading synchronization technology to its wireless operator partners. The solution will allow Danger's wireless operator partners to offer users of HiptopTM enabled devices the option of synchronizing calendars, contacts and tasks between their devices and key PC-based personal information management (PIM) software such as Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes and Organizer, and Novell GroupWise.

Under the terms of the agreement announced today, Danger will use Pumatech's XML development toolkit, a component of the Company's Intellisync® for Web software, to offer carriers a solution for synchronizing desktop-based PIM software with Danger's Hiptop Wireless Solution. Pumatech's XML toolkit uses XML commands, embedded inside HTTP packets, to communicate with Internet-based servers like Danger's.

"Danger's Hiptop Solution offers a wide range of powerful features, and we believe that many customers will value the option of fast, accurate synchronization with the PC applications that they rely on every day," said Andy Rubin, president and CEO of Danger, Inc. "By working with Pumatech to provide their Intellisync engine to carriers, we're offering the option of a proven sync solution."

Danger's HiptopTM Wireless Solution will enable wireless operators to deliver voice, Web, messaging and entertainment services on a fun device that is affordable to young adult consumers.

Pumatech's XML development toolkit is an integral component of the Company's popular Intellisync for Web software, a fast time-to-market synchronization solution for Intellisync SDK licensees who wish to synchronize their Web-based PIM application with leading PIMs and devices, including HiptopTM enabled devices, Microsoft Outlook, and many others. The software includes a pre-built, customizable Intellisync desktop Client and Connector that speaks XML, a solution ideal for customers who are looking to deploy synchronization immediately, with minimal development work. The XML toolkit allows developers to rapidly implement an XML server interface for their Web-based PIM.

"The Hiptop Wireless Solution represents an exciting new direction in wireless connectivity," said Woody Hobbs, Pumatech president and CEO.
