Licensing Agreement Allows Sales.Oracle.com Users To Synchronize Personal Information Management Data With Online Business Suite
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 2001-- Pumatech Inc. (Nasdaq:PUMA - news), a leading provider of enterprise-level software products and services that deliver highly relevant information -- wherever and whenever it's needed, today announced a licensing agreement with Oracle Corp., Redwood Shores, Calif. (Nasdaq:ORCL - news), to incorporate Pumatech's Intellisync® synchronization engine into Sales.Oracle.com, an online application that delivers the core sales applications of the Oracle E-Business Suite as an online service. Oracle will utilize Pumatech's Intellisync Software Development Kit (Intellisync SDK) to enable users to synchronize contact information, calendars and tasks between Sales.Oracle.com, Microsoft Outlook and Palm OS®-based handhelds. Through this agreement, Oracle has the right to distribute the Pumatech-Oracle solution to its own salesforce in addition to external Sales.Oracle.com customers.
``Our work with Oracle demonstrates that our core technology continues to proliferate to the majority of Global 2000 companies and reinforces our position as the industry leader in synchronization,'' said Brad Rowe, president and CEO of Pumatech. ``Intellisync will enhance Sales.Oracle.com by providing the means to synchronize important personal data that is critical to all facets of business, including service, marketing, sales and e-commerce.''
By accessing Oracle's sales automation applications via the online service model, companies can rapidly deploy enterprise-class salesforce automation capabilities, enabling sales organizations of any size to easily and actively manage the sales process, using key functionality such as customer and pipeline management, global forecasting, calendaring and activity management. Businesses can also have access to updated calendars, contacts and tasks while users are on the go by integrating Pumatech's Intellisync software to facilitate synchronization between Sales.Oracle.com, Microsoft Outlook and Palm OS-based devices.
``We started using the Palm/Outlook sync feature as soon as it became available. We have seen immediate results: it has greatly enhanced and simplified many of our off-line sales processes. This add-on has made an already impressive offering even better,'' said Danyel H. Benoit, president, Micro Concepts & Solutions Inc.
``The Palm/Outlook sync feature has improved the productivity of our salespeople by completely eliminating the re-entry of information. Our goals were to simplify the sales reporting process, find a way to access and update relevant information when off-line and utilize the tools that are already in place to perform our sales activities. Synchronization between MS Outlook and Sales.Oracle.com has allowed us to meet all of these goals,'' said James H. Wicker III, vice president, information services, Dynamex Inc.
``Through our relationship with Pumatech, we are providing our users with the best possible offline solution while in the field, allowing easy re-sync when back at the office,'' said Jesper Andersen, vice president, Oracle CRM online services. ``We selected Pumatech because of its position as industry leader in synchronization and because its patented technology allows flexibility to our internal salesforce and enhances the overall e-business solution being offered to our online customers.''
