SAN JOSE, Calif. - (10/29/01) - Pumatech Inc. (Nasdaq: PUMA), a leading provider of enterprise-level software products and services that deliver highly relevant information - wherever and whenever it's needed, today announced a licensing agreement with WebEvent, Inc., a leading provider of Web-based calendaring and scheduling applications. WebEvent will utilize Pumatech's Intellisync for Web XML toolkit software to integrate the Intellisync synchronization engine into its product line, thereby providing customers with offline access to Web-based calendar and contact information. The integration of Intellisync enables corporate enterprises to maximize the mobile devices increasingly being used by professionals during their time away from the office. Intellisync for Web is a quick time-to-market solution designed to enable portals, telcos, and enterprise software developers to synchronize their Web-based applications with leading PIM (personal information management) software and mobile devices, including Microsoft Outlook and Palm OS handhelds.
Through this agreement, WebEvent gains the ability to incorporate Intellisync into its offerings and leverage Pumatech's long-standing success in the market. The decision to license this technology from Pumatech allows WebEvent to allocate resources to other critical development projects within the corporation.
"WebEvent has always provided customers with the latest applications for their varied and increasing mobile needs," said James Cameron, president and CEO of WebEvent. "We chose to license Pumatech's products in order to ensure customer satisfaction, as Intellisync is the de facto standard in synchronization software. This agreement allows us to deliver the services that our customers require without compromising the high quality to which they have grown accustomed."
"WebEvent's selection of Intellisync to enhance its offerings reinforces the impact we have made in the enterprise, and simultaneously illustrates WebEvent's commitment to providing the most current and functional products for their customers," said Brad Rowe, president, CEO and co-founder of Pumatech. "Our products will allow WebEvent customers to work more effectively from outside of the office by retrieving the most up-to-date information from their corporate Web sites. This agreement provides WebEvent with this capability without incurring the cost of developing their own synchronization solutions in-house."
