Mobile enterprise infrastructure software vendor Pumatech, Inc. said Monday that it has added support for Pocket PC 2002 devices in its newly upgraded Satellite Forms 5.0. The product enables development of applications for mobile devices that connect to corporate databases, according to the company. It previously supported only devices based on the Palm OS. The product comes with a built-in console for administrators for managing and deploying applications on handhelds. It also includes "App Designer," which the company claims enables non-programmers to create the database applications for mobile devices simply by dragging and dropping icons. The product is designed to work with Pumatech's Enterprise Intellisync Server and supports both over-the-air updates of information as well as updates via the standard synchronization process. The product supports popular databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, according to the company. It said the program is aimed at developing applications for tasks such as sales automation, inventory control and market research. | |
